About Us

Personal History and Objectives for Clients

I grew up in Wichita Falls and attended schools here where I graduated from S. H. Rider High School in 1974 and in 1978 graduated  Magna Cum Laude from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting. I then attended and obtained a Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University in 1981. After working for a few years in my family's oil and gas business I went to work for Wichita County in 1985.

I had the pleasure of serving this community for 22 years in the Wichita County Criminal Defense Attorney's Office as I worked my way up from a beginning prosecutor to being in the senior management level of the office as it's Chief Felony Prosecutor. I am sure I have met many of your friends and family members as prospective jurors and ultimate jurors in hundreds of jury trials that I participated. I have tried just about every kind of criminal case  from DWI's, to Burglaries, to Sexual Assaults and even Capital Murders. Through that experience, I believe I gained a great deal of insight of how the legal system works.  It also gave me a chance to meet many different types of people from victims, to witness, to police officers  and to experts. I found that sometimes people who do not testify in court a lot are very unsure of themselves and how tell their side of the story. The job of an attorney is try to get witnesses to explain their memories  so that the judge or jury can best picture what they know or observed.

After retiring from the District Attorney's Office and entering private practice, I have tried to put this experience to use for my clients. Many times I talk potential clients who feel overwhelmed by the legal system, the complicated issues in their cases and just sometimes the pure emotion that is generated by their possible legal troubles. My goal and along with my staff is try to make their experiences with the courts as simple as possible. We try to listen to their problems and explain the possible legal ramifications that present themselves. We also  try to do that in manner as understandable as possible. The language used in legal setting confuses everyone looking for help.

Nonlawyers also normally do not understand the procedural aspects of hearings and trials which is expected. Our goal is to make that as clear as possible so our clients are not blindsided by it. Part of our procedure it to try to help  clients and witnesses  tell their story in the most organized way. It helps the judge or jury  understand their case better and put the clients and witnesses in a much more favorable light when it comes time  for a legal decision to made. Our ultimate goal is to make clients as comfortable as they can be so we have the opportunity to achieve the best possible result.
